Coffee almost disappeared in Caquetá, Colombia. 50 years of conflict meant many farmers abandoned their lands. When the peace agreement came, we began our partnership with local farmers. Our long-term REVIVING ORIGINS program creates farming cooperatives and improves infrastructure and agricultural practices so coffee can thrive again.

Origin
Stormy times return to calm, and every now and again we seize the opportunity to make a fresh start. We’re working together with the Colombian farmers’ federation to help Caquetá build back better. It’s about empowering farmers to work together to form and strengthen cooperatives. It’s about making sure farmers have the resources they need to start farming that great Colombian coffee again – that means land and agricultural supplies. Training with agronomists helps farmers implement best practices in agriculture and sustainability. And finally, building infrastructure and a strong supply chain mean that coffee can reach you, that you know just where it came from, and that it tastes delicious. After a long conflict, it takes time for peace to sink into the soil and grow a stable, fruitful society again. But we’re in it for the long-haul. They may not all be talking about Caquetá’s coffee now, but we’re hopeful they will be. In the meantime, we’re excited each year to share a little more of this great new AAA sustainability program coffee with you.
Roasting
We split roast ESPERANZA de COLOMBIA. The first split delivers the spin of this blend – it’s medium in time and color. The second split is a little darker in color but roasted in a shorter time. It gives this coffee its milder notes and juicy character.
Aromatic profile
ESPERANZA de COLOMBIA is a mild coffee that is really light in acidity. It’s beautifully balanced and rounded, and it has aromas of yellow fruits with a hint of a cereal note.
Try it with milk:
Why not try ESPERANZA de COLOMBIA as Latte Macchiatto? It takes on a sweet caramelized and roasted character with a hint of plum and date aroma.
